hi guys having trouble with my 58 2.0tsi

The Epc light keeps coming on and im not able to go over around 2800rpm

occasionally the car runs really rough, misfires and the throttle will go straight to the floor

Had the error codes wiped today which cured it for a few miles but the Epc came back

The computer came up with a fault with the throttle position sensor :?

anyone experienced this before or know anything about it?

EPC is the fly-by-wire throttle so the fault code aligns with the EPC light coming on. The throttle is just a potentiomer (variable resistor) that sends the demand to the ECU and the ECU decides how much to operate the throttle, based on this input plus a few other parameters.

Have a look at the throttle pedal and check there are no loose connections otherwise it might be faulty. I've heard of a few failing on VAG cars.

I had this when we owned the Roc.....on the engine side of the throttle control the connector is right at the front just behind the rad....very prone to water ingress. Unplug it and try to dry it out as much as you can.

The fact you are in limp mode and not total engine shutdown suggests one of the 3 channels the ECU compares is showing a strange figure...possibly due to moisture which is effecting the resistance in one of the control loops.

Thanks
