Scirocco is Going. Thanks for the help guys.

Post by lifeboatwill »

Hi guys,

following the recent announcement about the scirocco facelift, I have decided to change the car. I had been holding off to see what changes VW would bring, and I'm a little disappointed. The result? Well, I ordered a Mk7 Golf R a couple of days ago. While I appreciate I could have held off for the face lifted scirocco R, I feel that it would probably be more money than I want to spend, and I am keen to get rid of my model before a newer version becomes available.

Everyone on here has been great with advice and help... The great ideas and modifications have also cost me a fortune (thanks for that...) but will keep an eye on things as I still do on my old honda civic forum too.

Wishing you all the best...

Will.

I know, wasn't an easy decision to make, I love my rocco... Lapiz Blue DSG with a few extras, 19" wheels (the standard ones are terrible) keyless entry and a winter pack. Over time I know I'll tweak it as I did with the rocco, but there is just so much kit as standard on the golfs in general, hard to go past!

I've seen a few mk7 Rs on dealer forecourts while looking for a scirocco and every time I get a feeling over overpowering desire. Can't afford one, but I have no doubt you will love it. Great replacement.

Thanks guys, one thing I always liked about on here was the good will, and when anyone has different tastes, it's put in a nice way. Some people can be really offensive on forums.

TBH I'm coming 30, no obligations kids etc and figured it may be a good opportunity to own a car like that. Just incase my circumstances change. Not cheap, but I'm sure it will be fun, and I just love the VW brand and mentality, as well as the other VAG heads.! I'll post a few pics when I get her (if thats allowed on a rocco forum lol)

there was an issue with R cloth seat colours not being what people expected, so waiting for a car with leather interior but got the one with the cloth to run around in until it arrives :D

as soon as she arrives!! I have to say, the test drive blew me away, though its the first 4wd hot hatch I've really driven. The sound is awesome in race mode too but subtle enough not to be annoying the rest of the time

I'll post a picture of my new VAG car when I collect it on Thursday. I somehow don't think of Porsche as VAG but I guess it is.

If you see a white TDI 170 DSG with my options and just over 16000 miles on it come up for sale at a London dealer soon I would recommend it to anyone. I had hoped to sell it to a Scirocco Central or Pistonheads member but due to time constraints with work I just can't be dealing with a private sale. Can't wait to get behind the wheel of my new Cayman S.

My new ride. A bit paranoid about narrow roads and crazy London Scooters/Motorbikes but loving it so far.
