Best Wash Mitt? Zymol Sponge / Sheepskin / Lambswool etc...

What wash mitt / sponge do you guys use when washing?
I've been using the Halfords Genuine Sheepskin wash mitt up to this point, was very soft , though would only last for maybe 3 or 4 washes then would get rough.
I've been reading that the Zymol Sponge is highly recommended and used by detailing pros such as Paul Dalton. I've just received this sponge today, though the weather is still pants at the moment, lol!
Any other recommended wash mitts for the Roc?

I usually use a Meguiar's Lambswool Mitt (
http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog ... -cat3.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;), I've had two on the go for a couple of years and as long as you rinse them through after use they seem to stay pretty much good as new. The wool can curl up a little when it dries out but it definitely stays soft enough...and as soon as you dunk it into your wash bucket the strands go back to normal.
I recently bought a Microfiber Madness Incredisponge/Mitt type thing (
http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog ... -cat3.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) but I can't decide whether or not I like it, it holds plenty of water and glides over the car fine but it can sometimes feel a bit heavy, stiff and cumbersome.
Could it be a product that you are using which is making your halfords mitt go rough? Maybe the product is drying and sticks to the fibers?

I've been using the Meguiar Ultimate Wash & Wax Shampoo for the Roc, smells and nice and gives very nice shine after every wash:
I do the 2 bucket method when washing and always rinse my wash mitt after washing a section of the car, however could it be the Meguiar shampoo causing the mitt to dry out/get rough? Maybe I should change shampoo...

It's not the shampoo.
After a lot of research, I've ordered the Microfibre Madness Incredimitt. They do a sponge, as Jay mentioned, as well as a mitt. While I've read good reports on the sponge, I just prefer the idea of a mitt to a sponge, tbh. The mitt is supposed to be as good as any lamb's wool mitt out there and will last much longer.
The Meguire's mitt is also supposed to be very good, but, as with all lamb's wool mitts, they require a fair bit of maintainance after use. You're supposed to wash them with no powder or softener and comb them out and some people wrap them in a plastic bag, etc..
The Incredimitt just needs a good rinse and hanging up, by all accounts.

Thanks Brocky, I might invest in the Meguiar Lambswool Mitt in future..

No problem.
To be honest, though, if the cost of the Incredimitt is putting you off (it is a little pricy) then I'd spend the extra £1.50 and go for the Incredisponge instead of the Meg's mitt. It will require a lot less maintainance and last much longer than a lamb's wool mitt.
Polished Bliss have free delivery, too!

Oh and keep your old Halfords one for doing your wheels, rather than throwing it away.

I currently use the auto finesse wash mitt. Previously used meguairs lambswool mitt and it lasted a year. Before falling apart. Also got a carpro wash mitt and they are surpose to be really good but iv yet to use it. As mentioned the incredimitt/incredisponge is getting really good reviews.

So how come we are going back to sponges now - though they were a big 'no no' as retained grit etc on the outside?

The Incredisponge isn't a sponge, in the traditional sense, at least.
It's a microfibre mitt with a sponge inside....so you hold it like you would hold a sponge, instead of putting your hand inside, like a mitt. The sponge also helps to create more suds than a mitt, apparently.

So I'm being a girl here....
Never thought I'd be interested in washing my rocco. I used to leave my cat unwashed (wasn't as proud of it as I am my rocco) and when it got really bad, I'd take it to the hand car wash, pay a tenner and be done with it.
Will be buying myself some car washing wares soon I think and DIYing! Only bugger is that I don't have access to running water at my block of flats.
Any suggestions for alternatives in this situation?

Hi mazzie. I too live in a block of flats so have the same problem as you. I went with a mesto hand pump foamer. And a 7 litre hand pump sprayer for rinsing. Not ideal but does the job

Ah cool. Didn't think of that, thanks for the suggestion!
