I've been driving my scirocco R for over a year now… really love the car. especially its DSG fart…

hi cuprabob! thanks for the fast reply! I'm considering staying with stock tune and had no plans for a stage 1 or 2 at the moment. im based in a country where entitlements of cars cost as much as a ferrari (pretty well known country… i don't wish to say its nameCuprabob wrote:If you fit a decat.the emissions light can be mapped out. It's normal practice with a stage 2 remap.
Don't know where you're based but remember a decat is illegal in the UK as the car won't pass an MOT unless you have a tester willing to turn a blind eye or you refit cat for the test.

But i believe thats the least of the trouble if the CEL is eliminated, i can actually go for a dummy-cat
It limits the amount of gasses going to the lambda sensor, you can't just remove it and plug the hole as it needs to have some readings of the gas otherwise it will still bring on the eml.chelspeed wrote:How does extending the mounting of the sensor stop it from noticing that there's no cat? Is it just because the sensor bit is removed from the gas flow? If so why not just take it out, tyrap it back and plug the hole?
what are the chances of the CEL coming up should i choose to use the o2 sensor extender? will my car go into limp mode due to O2 sensor error?shshivji wrote:It limits the amount of gasses going to the lambda sensor, you can't just remove it and plug the hole as it needs to have some readings of the gas otherwise it will still bring on the eml.chelspeed wrote:How does extending the mounting of the sensor stop it from noticing that there's no cat? No it will be fine, the post cat sensor is mainly for checking the emissions of the cat, therefore doesn't have any input to the running of the engine hence why mappers map the sensor out during remaps.smallblueboy20 wrote:what are the chances of the CEL coming up should i choose to use the o2 sensor extender? will my car go into limp mode due to O2 sensor error?shshivji wrote:It limits the amount of gasses going to the lambda sensor, you can't just remove it and plug the hole as it needs to have some readings of the gas otherwise it will still bring on the eml.chelspeed wrote:How does extending the mounting of the sensor stop it from noticing that there's no cat? Right....it's the pre cat sensor that has an effect on running, only it can tell the ecu to either richen up or lean the system via fuel trimming. The post cat has no effect on running and it's job is to make sure the cat is efficient, if it detects the cat has low efficiency then an eml will be illuminated and that's it. The extender tricks the sensor as it only receives a limited amount of gasses..... This is why mappers map the sensor out as it has 'no effect' on running the engine :-)smallblueboy20 wrote:hence... if i choose to decat my exhaust, applied with an o2 extender, i would not have any CEL accompany by loss of power or sudden limp mode? will the ECU learn of the "new" reading of the emission and decided to start dumping more/less fuel to create the right reading? im abit worried with erratic behaviour
