Dead Scirocco

My 9 day old 2.0 tsi GT DSG has given up the ghost.
i drove home from wales to edinburgh last week (800 mile round trip) with no problems, then today i was on my way from south wales to anglesey when it
died.
No power over 2000 revs accompanied by a grinding noise.
Not happy, (self medicating with stella artois at the moment) car gets picked up by dealer tomorrow.
Has anybody got an idea of what is wrong.

very weird, was this "grinding noise" coming from the engine?
No warning lights on dashboard I take it, and I assume the car is still driveable albeit with a lot less power.
Let us know what the dealers say but that sounds like very bad luck.

Sounds like the engine/car management software went into limb-home mode. The grinding sound thing sounds nasty though

1 word turbo and if that is gone hopefully no parts from it went into the engine

If it is a serious fault I'd be inclined to reject the car

Yeah, bear in mind a very important thing:
EU consumer protection directives give you the right to reject and return a purchase within 2 weeks if you are not satisfied and they can't say ANYTHING!

thanks for your thoughts on my problem everyone.
vw guy who picked the car up today thinks, due to the noise and smoke that came out of it at startup, that the turbo is the most likely culprit.
had two vrs octavias before this and never had any issues with them at all, (the one i traded in is still at the dealers) - i will wait till i get a verdict on the
scirocco then take it from there.
will keep you posted.

All sorted now.
Required a new turbo, catalytic convertor and exhaust system - £1996.
Glad I didn,t have to pay for it. Had it back for a week now and everything seems fine.
Sent a grumpy letter to VW but no reply as yet, will wait to see what happens.
Apart from that I am really glad I didn't just tell them to stick it where the sun don't shine as I've passed the 2000 mile mark now (have discovered the launch control and forgotten how to put the DSG in any other mode than 'S').
anyway got to go now and burn another £45.00

Good you got it sorted. Did you see the topic on a turbo recall that some cars have had? Also did you have the rattling noise from the engine around 2000rpm before this happened that some complained about?

Am I the only one who does not like Sport on the DSG. I find it so much more rewarding driving in manual using the paddleshift. I find S mode really frustrating when it holds the gear and high revs when you know you cant use them and then changes up just as you want to put your foot down. Also I don't like the delay when you accelrate and it changes down a gear or two and how bumpy the gear changes are if you slow to first or second.

Find S mode a complete waste of time! If you are driving quick then Manual mode is the way to go for me too.
