Timing Chain

Hello Everyone,
I have a 2010 Scirocco 2.0 T.S.I and sometimes there is a rattle coming from the engine from a cold start,It does not do it all the time. The car has covered 30,000 miles, I gather this could be a tensioner problem. My questions are am I correct? Also if this is the case is it an expensive repair? Warranty has run out.
