Pre-reg R

Been thinking on possibly upgrading to an R, and have come across this DSG: http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/for-sale/ ... 534048119/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

As a 63 with 5 miles on the clock, it must be a pre-reg.

It looks to be a pretty basic R (doesn't even have rear sensors), and it's not for me since I can't do white  However, looks to be a good saving over list, even before a spot of haggling.

Looks like it has DSG and maybe 19's? (picture not that clear) that's about it... but even so still a good price. What were they new about 28/30k?

No parking sensors on a 2013 R seems strange though...? I thought they were standard on GT upwards??

Think they were a few hundred over 30k for a basic R DSG when they first came out. Don't believe parking sensors have ever been anything other than an option, on all models. Even more suprising is that there are Rs out there that have only cloth seats. Agree that the 19 inch alloys look to be the only optional equipment on the advertised car.

Now, if only I could find a low mileage 2012 with panoramic roof, rear sensors and folding mirrors, leather, 501, with a screen price of less than 20k...

That looks superb value for what is effectively a brand new R, I think they are 18's, but £24k on a DSG equipped R sounds pretty good to me.

Does sound really good considering very 2nd hand r I have seen is about 20k. Parking sensors have never been standard. Always an option on all trims

From the GT configurator.

They've been standard since I started looking into buying one, earlier this year, at the least. They are a £385 option on the standard model.

No I am not sure when they bought in the reverse sensors as standard. Just had a look through through the model changes list (below) can't see it on there but must have been added at some point !

Judging from that, I'd guess at MY2013.5 (introduced at week 45 of 2012) when the reversing camera option was added for £185.

But that's the camera, not the sensors?

I know. I'd guess that it was at that stage they made the sensors standard. :)

The alloys are 18's. You can see it on the tyre wall, R18

Very good price for that car. Looks like it has satnav too.

I've got an R (2011) and parking sensors definitely weren't standard.

This is a 2013 car. That's why I commented that it seems strange, because everything from GT upwards has had them standard since I started looking into buying a Roc, early in 2013.

When I was looking in March, reverse sensors were not standard, and we're most definitely an extra cost option. it's quite possible this car was built pre the spec change for new orders and held as stock somewhere before being sold off to a dealer cheap to clear the channel. Interestingly the ipad vw config tool has no mention of reverse sensors being standard even today.

Speaking of parking sensors....

I'm still surprise everybody bangs on about them being so essential on Sciroccos. Yes the visibility isn't the greatest on the roc but it's not as terrible as a lot of people make out. You very soon get used to it and reverse parking etc becomes as easy as it is in any other car.

The parking sensors lessen the smooth and sporty rear of an R, in my opinion.

Indeed - it is what you are used to, I did not specify my Roc with reverse sensors and have not found it a problem. Even if I did have them, I would still be looking for myself out of instinct anyway.

The mileage is 8,948 miles, reg FX63, it's an ex-demo being de-fleeted. Only option fitted is RNS510. The high mileage for a 5 month old car probably explains the price.

Not quite the bargain we thought then, wow so near on 9k miles since September (4 months!)
That's nearly half of what I have done in nearly 5 years! :eyepop:
