A little hiccup at collection...

So, went to pick up the roc this morning, everything going ok, dealer takes me out to have a walk-around. No front fogs. Not happy.
In short, I still drove away in it, and I'll be getting a new one with the right spec in a few weeks. And I'm getting dynaudio on it!
On reflection, I don't think its too bad, as I wouldn't really use fog lights over the summer, and it means I get 2 new cars!! Just gotta look after this one until the swap.

What did the dealer say when you pointed it out? Did he look sheepish?

Yeah must have picked one from stock - just make sure it has the rest of the items you want, Cruise, Tinted Windows etc

As we were walking out, I said "Ah. Problem." when I explained he was like "well it can't have been on the order form then". At which point I invited him to go back and check, and sure enough, it was there.
In fact, when we ordered it, we had the spec sheet, which had missed the lights off, and the dealer wrote them on by hand and signed it. Apparently it was a digital copy that had been sent 'upstairs', and so that was why they were omitted. Not my problem now though. The dealer will have lost at least a couple of grand as I drove it out of the place (which felt sweet!).
Other than that, absolutely loving the car!

It's going to be a prioritised factory order. Essentially I'm nicking one of their other customers spots in the queue

Dealers sound really good - up here they would have botched trying to retro fit them

It's about the only thing they have been good on! We've been messed around quite a bit, and kicked up quite a fuss, so when we insisted that I drive this one until the replacement came, I reckon they knew we wouldn't budge on it.

wouldnt be much of a botch job, as its only 2 vents and 2 fog light with 6 screws, the wiring will be there anyway

I asked about the possibility of a retro-fit and the dealer said it was only a factory fit option.

NOW HANG ON A MINUTE !
Your spec is very similar to mine. It better not be my Candy White 1.4 that your getting prioritised

lol, i think its just the next space that my dealer (york) has in the queue, be it 1.4, white, or anything else! If I'm extra lucky I might just get the additions for week 22, that would be a rather good deal.

How did you find the rest of your buying experience? I looked at buying one from the same place as you but they were quite unhelpful - which is why I have gone for an internet broker instead.

I wasn't involved too much in the whole process since its my 18th birthday present so my dad essentially made all the correspondance, but he was really annoyed with them after a run of several errors. The exact words used I don't think are suitable to be posted! So while alot of people seem to be saying how good the dealer sounds, I dont think they had much of a choice, as we were already very angry at them, and my dad is pretty forceful, so basically told them what was going to happen!
The new one is apparently on "order status" whatever that means, so I'm still holding hope for the week 22 additions.
Anyway, the car is fantastic, though it does get quite dirty quite quickly! I washed it the other day and could not believe the difference, in particular the alloys, they seem to collect a lot of dirt. Also the 'scirocco' and 'tsi' badges are dirt magnets, might contemplate debadging it...

Hi All,
At last!!! My Tdi GT Rising Blue arrived today. Ordered on 25th Feb and was begining to despair if it would ever come. So far it would appear to be worth the wait. Apart from the handbook being for a Golf and the radio instructions for the RCD 310 when I have an RCD 510 all appears to be ok. Supplier says they will send the correct one asap. (probably around Christmas!)
Have yet to give it a good run as all my friends have been having a go! Challenged at the lights by a "boy racer" but at my age I will stick to the speed limit (well maybe a wee bit over!). Felt like a bit of a celebrity when my local garage staff came out for a look.
Why can't a set of mats be included in the price!
Was sad to see my 2 year old Astra Sri go but think I have a much better car now in the Scirocco.
Good luck to all who are waiting and "happy motoring" to all who have their cars.
Denboy

I think you'd be spanked at the lights in your TDI by quite a few cars - it's not too quick off the mark, but it's good in the overtaking range (I have one - i'm not criticising it).
I'd leave the boy racer antics alone (as you did) and be smug in the fact that your car is infinitely better than the 1.2 Corsa/Clio with the drainpipe exhaust and all that daft plastic shite stuck to it, whose charva owner is giving you that look at the lights.
There aren't many affordable cars that turn heads (for the right reasons - unlike the bright pink playboy stickered micra that patrols my work route) like a Scirocco, great choice of car.
