Xenon retrofit and general VW SA rant

Post by johnjm »

My VW dealer just called me to say that for some reason VWSA are not allowing xenon and DCC onto all cars gong into build in the next 4 months. This includes mine. No idea why.

So now the question, is it possible to retrofit the xenons? I can order them from germany but im sure that I wont have any controllers nor auto levelling, is it worth it?

A question on the DCC - when in sport it also makes the steering nice an heavy, now if I dont have the DCC, will the steering be light regardless? I want it to have the MK5 GTI heaviness that I was used to, and enjoyed. I guess I could plug in the vagcom and change it anyway then if its not heavy? good news is that the RSA spec includes all of the auto dimmers, lights electric seats etc as standard, so thats one good thing, but I really wanted teh xenon and DCC (its gonna have teh sunroof at least though).

UK cars all have DCC, however, there is not a huge difference in steering weight when in sport, benchmarking it against the golf the golf set up feels like sport mode, we've got a link somewhere about retrofitting xenons

i got invited to a couple of the scirocco launches in south africa, bit of a long way to travel though
