It's parked in front of my house!

I went and got my car today, and drove it the short distance to my home without license plates. Tomorrow morning I will drive it to the traffic police to have it inspected and licensed. I am going nuts not being able to drive it - the infuriatingly short drive home left me wanting more!

While I was driving the car down the showroom ramp my friend discovered a small dent/scratch underneath the front spoiler. We raised a fuss and got a free VW GTI mug for our troubles. The dealership had the car washed before having me sign a few papers, and bid me farewell. Tomorrow a representative will accompany me to the traffic police to make sure the licensing process goes smoothly. I have a full day of driving planned after that :)

I really don't know how I am going to keep within the constraints of running in - the damn thing accelerates too fast! I've never had a sports car and hardly ever driven any, so the super-responsive accelerator is going to take some getting used to. My first car was a Daewoo Lanos, with 86hp, my second car (which is actually my wife's car) is a Daihatsu Terios with 105hp. This jump to a 160HP Scirocco with its DSG gearbox is a bit of a shock for me - and you guys with your 2 liter TSI's had me worried I would be under-powered!

I will report back with pictures and my driving impressions tomorrow evening. I just talked to my insurance agent and the car should be covered by tomorrow morning too

Hassan, you should update your profile to 'I drive a' rather than 'I have ordered a' (which incidentally I will be doing on thursday!!!!!)

Can't wait...

Congratulations, you sounded mega excited and pleased!

You are going to LOVE this car. Trust me. Just be careful out there if you aren't used to such pace. It takes a little getting used to. I went from a 58bhp Fiesta to my Seat Leon with 170bhp ... significant difference. Give yourself a little time to get used to DSG and the throttle... and voila. FUN.
