The driver side dipped lights stopped working. I have checked it with two different garages and there are no faults with the lights and wirings and it has been checked using Vagcom and there are no error codes and there is no output showing.
I was told the central control module for electronics or something was probably blown. Really confused here. Hope someone can explain what's going on.
My car has standard halogens btw.
Options: multifunction steering wheel, fogs, 18" alloys; DAB; XDS activated, DRLs reset, lock beep activated; indicator repeat set to 4; covered cup holder, rear seat 12v socket installed. metal pedals, 210 Golf GTi also in the stable. Scirocco gone - miss it. Polo GTI now.
I assume that there is no error message on the MFD about the lights to say a bulb has failed. If the electronics module had failed there would be a code show up on Vagcom. Be interested in the actual tests carried out by the garages to check the bulbs and wiring - if they are not VW specialists they may not know how to interpret vagcom outputs. If the main beam is working then it is likely to be the bulb that has failed or a poor connection on the dipped beam but surprised there are no error messages. My first check would be the fuses and then change the bulb. Next would be to disconnect the wiring connector to the headlights and check for a voltage on the dipped beam circuit. If no voltage then check the light relays.
I'm havin the same problem with mine, haven't yet had vagcom on it due to only checking the wireing yesterday. I've got no feed to the headlight and traced the wireing back to the bulkhead and no power there either. In the process of trying to get someone to have a look at it with vagcom, let me know if you find the fault and what was the cause please.
Thanks for your reply @salsajoe. I'm not very experienced to check everything myself but every "specialist" I went to told me it was indeed a problem with the CECM. Decided to just go for a expensive repair and paid someone to get the parts and fix the problem, and after they took the car away, they found out the problem was with the headlights itself, the connection to the "metal bit" of the bulbs was bent back and was not connecting properly and hence it wasnt working. Now fixed and working fine - got some of my money back too.
So sorry for the crude description.
