Why no spare wheel on the R?

I really dislike having to rely on a repair aerosol in the event of a puncture, instead of carrying a proper spare wheel - if you need to use the aerosol on a tyre that has plenty of life left in it, the tyre is ruined and has to be thrown away and replaced. Initially, I thought this was an unavoidable by-product of the exhaust layout on the 'R', but then I watched a YouTube video from Japan of a review of their 'R' - which is, of course, also RH drive - and it is identical in every way to mine EXCEPT that it does show a proper spare wheel beneath the boot floor cover. So what is the real reason that we do not have the option of a proper spare wheel?

Probably to save money and weight as the latter affects CO2 value.

the later ones (MY2011 onwards) did get a space saver spare rather than the can of foam
nothing to stop you purchasing a spare

To echo Trix only the first 3/4 months of production between march and may of '10 had space saver spares. These cars should have come with self sealing tyres in addition to the inflation kit.
The wheel is PN 1KO601027B IIRC same as a normal rocco.

There is currently a space saver for sale on e-bay. 4 days left of the auction.
