Rattling Noise From Inside Rear

Post by MarcelloCee »

Hi Guys,

Got a slight issue,

I'm getting some sort of internal rattling coming from the O/S/R seat/seat belt area. It happens when I drive over a bump..even a slight dip in the road and I hear it.

I have replaced the black bump stops on the boot ( as this was a noise I had couple of months ago ) but this new noise has started in the last 2/3 days. :eyepop:

I don't think it's a mechanical issue ( being a mechanic ) as I know the sound is coming from something in that area inside the car.

Can anyone advise on what I can check or what this could be? I checked the parcel shelf too incase that was loose but its fine.

Thanks

Marcello :D

Is it the seatbelt clip rattling against the side of the car, something that happens in our VW Touran ?
Easiest way to eliminate it would be to fasten both rear seatbelts, I suppose.

Anything in the rear "pockets" either side of the back seat?

Is the parcel shelf correctly engaged at the back?

I'd go with deagol- happened to me a couple of times, where i hadnt engaged the rear seat back properly, and on another occasion, the parcel shelf, sounded like a more severe problem, but that;s all it was. lately also discovered the spare wheel wasn't properly screwed into its base. the noise from anything like that is exaggerated due to the stiff shocks. hope its a simple fix. :)
