Hi all , unfortunately I've lost my key for my locking nuts , bought a new set today under the assumption if you give a vw dealer your registration they will be able to give you a new set that match your car , this wasn't the case, they said that they will remove the 4 nuts using an hours labour with a master key for 70 quid then the other 60 for the nuts , took it too my local garage then another both said they'd be afraid to chisel them or fire a socket over them because of little clearance between the nut and the alloy, one suggested welding a stud on to get them off but as a welder I refused as the heat will damage the alloy badly, any other rocco owners got any ideas I've booked in for Saturday at the vw dealer but tbh a dont want to give them 70 bucks for 5 mins work.
And yes I know I'm an idiot for lossing the key in the first place

Re: Locking nut master key
VW used to sell the keys seperatly but force you to buy a full set now, some dealers order full sets of masters and sell the keys out of them to get around this. If you can get someone out of parts dept to try masters on your car and give you key number of the one that fits i might be able to help you locate one.

Re: Locking nut master key
I do not know if this helps in view of the above post. But the code for the locking nut is on the bottom of the stud which can be read only after you've removed it. It will be/was alphabet coded e.g. 'k' which will be the code for the security key that you will need. To remove the stud use, I think, a 20 mm socket hammered over the security stud, which will enable the socket to remove the 'bolt' in the normal way. I apologise if this comes with a small health warning!

They're gonna try the masters key before they try and remove it using other means the guy in the dealership said its not guaranteed that they will have a masters that matches my car probably relating to your post, I will keep you updated I won't have time between now and when am booked in anyway to try and find anything out,

Turns out they had the master key , 15 pounds to take the old ones off and new ones on so all in 75 quid, suppose that will be a lesson learned haha !
