Scirocco Central

HI Guys,

I'm after some advice if possible?

I owned a Scirocco R previously, but got rid because we had a baby. I'm now driving a mk3 Focus st3 estate, but not that keen on it. I do really miss my Scirocco!

I have found what looks to be a stage 2+ Scirocco on Autotrader. But I'm not sure if I should entertain buying a highly modified car? I really am very tempted to go and look at it though. If you were in my shoes, would you consider it even though it has been modded?

Would not touch it mate. In my opinion you do not know how it has been treated since modding whether used for track days or sprints or just thrashed or who has done the work. If you do decide to buy then get a cast iron warranty that is renewable annually.

Wouldn't be so sure about that, a few years back that dealer group did a deal with VWR to supply/fit their products not sure if the deal is still in place. I recall the warranty offered was a separate policy to the VWUK/VW AG manufacturers warranty.

A few things to take into consideration amongst the extensive spec of mods I couldn't see an upgraded clutch. Assume one is not fitted and budget for replacement.

Any warranty offered by RAC or similar will state "manufacturers specification" so is basically worthless.

Considering the vehicle age and assuming the mods where on delivery the spec would be VWR (KW) Coilovers and springs, VWR (Milltek) TBE, Revo Stg2+, VWR (ITG) Intake, VWR ARBS, etc all good mods if you want a modified example.
Plenty of standard cars on autotrader if you do not want a pre-modified example.

I have seen this car at VWR in Milton Keynes when it was a few weeks old, the first owner was a very wealthy retired gentleman who likes his cars and no expense was spared on modification and up keep, car quietly did it's business without willy waving on forums

It has probably done a few track days but who really cares, the gentle men's wife also retired runs a R26R which is also driven as intended

This car was put together by someone who knew what they wanted looked after accordingly

Agree, nothing wrong with buying modified as long as you have proof of it being looked after. At the end of the day Id perfer a car that had been looked after but driven properly rather than one that had been nannied. They are designed and built for this.

Its a lot of car for the price, cant advise if you should buy it or not though, you need to go look at it and decide.

but 360 bhp through the front wheels, wow. that's gonna wheel spin in 3rd so easy.
