As some of you may know, I have purchased a new MK7 Golf GTD to replace my beloved Scirocco. Well last Tuesday, she turned up, and thought some pre-collection piccies might be in order.

Just got to wait for the cherished plate transfer now...........god the wait is killing me. Could be collection any time from this weekend to 4 weeks time depending on DVLA !

I'll miss the Rocco, she has in fact been one of the best and most reliable car's I've ever owned, so the GTD has a lot to live up to.

In addition to the standard spec (Xenons, Dual zone climate, Adaptive Cruise Control, city collision detection, MFSW, Front and rear parking sensors, Colour DIS etc), I added the following:

Discover Nav Pro
Keyless Entry
Adaptive Chassis Control
Rear view Camera
Dynaudio sound package
High beam assist
Park Assist
Winter Pack

Wonderful - the exact spec I would buy too - apart from the Adaptive chassis thing - the subtelties of which are lost on me!

Whats the yellow plug and black box inside the spare wheel?

GTD wheels look so much better than the Austins, the ACC on the mk7 is a huge step up, I hated it on mine but I'd contemplate ticking the box on a mk7

Just such a great car to drive

Looks lovely! :D How long was you waiting from order to now?

Also.. can you do the whole reg plate thing at your local DVLA office?

Thanks guys.

Mark, its the cable to the subwoofer that's sitting inside the spare wheel (part of the new Dynaudio package).

I also found out I was one of the dealers last customers to get the rear view camera on their car, as in early July, VW UK deleted it off the options list !

Also, dealer has just rung me to confirm that DVLA have come through and I will be able to collect this Saturday (with my private plate attached) :D :D

Ordered it on the 11th April so 5 months - the wait has been torturous.

Don't know about the plate transfer as I left this up to the dealer and they said its all electronic these days, so should take no time at all. Car arrived at the dealers last Tuesday, so took only a week to get my private plate transferred off the Rocco onto the new Golf, so well happy.

My only concern with the sub in spare wheel is if it caused it to vibrate to much and make loads of noise. Maybe it will sound fine but just a thought might be worth adding some sound proofing.

Ah OK thanks - yes I see now it has Dynaudio written on it - I never expected that to be the answer - I was thinking tyre pump!

On the DSG stick surround I see it has D/S rather than seperate postions for drive and sport mode - how come?

It now spring loaded, I.e. flick it once when in D mode, it changes to sport, flick it back again, its back to D mode. I suppose it so that the driver profile modes have the ability to swap between sport and drive modes electronically ?

I'm liking the neatness of the Dynaudio sub in the upturned spare. I made a box from MDF that fills the same space.

Wonder if the Dynaudio sub will be available as a spare part at a half way reasonable cost? A little mono Amp to power it and it would be a great upgrade for a Roc standard or Dynaudio system.

What spec did you go for?

Just the basic spec with the sills thrown in by the dealer, basic spec has a load more toys on it than my roc.

You used to be able to but the local offices are all in process of being closed, depending on where your local office is in the closure process the forms may have to go off the Swansea even if the office is still open. All the offices in the first group (oct) are now sending cherished transfers to Swansea.

The dealers don't get tax discs under the new system rather they're sent directly to you within 14 days.

When I have bought a new car with the intention of placing a private number on it I have in the past got it registered in the normal way so that I get the normal plate but have ensured that part of the deal was that the dealer provide the normal and private plates and swap them over once the paperwork goes through. This speeds up the process once its time to sell or trade in as yoiu are not waiting for a standard number to be allocated.

Well it's that time now that I officially say goodbye, as the new Golf GTD has now been delivered and my beloved Scirocco is gone. I'd like to thanks everyone who has helped me on this forum and listened to my innate drivel :D

I'll pop in from time to time if that's OK, and you never know, if a MK4 Scirocco is around the corner in 3-4 years time built on the MQB platform, I might even be back !

Thought I'd leave with some shots of my new girl.....
