Scirocco Central

Hey all

I don't like the engine sound on my Scirocco (2009, 2.0 TSI, 21126 miles)
I just recorded this in the dark.

" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
(I moved closer in to the engine after a couple of seconds during recording.)

And this is yesterday!
" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I get no fault codes with VAS and there is enough oil!

What can it be?

is that a bad engine sound ?!

Maybe it's normal. I don't think it sounds normal. ¿?

At the first clip it sounds really bad in my ears!
On a TSI it's normal to hear the "ticking" sounds, like an old car with hydraulic lifters with low oil. It's the injectors you hear.
But your sounds terrible :/

I agree, however if you compare your engine sound to my engine, be aware that yours has a belt and mine has a chain.
I don't know if that would make any difference.

Still, mine sounds bad, but just maybe should sound like that.

Yes i know. My first reaction on the first clip was just the chain.
I should drive carefully to the nearest VAG dealer and ask a mechanic!

yea I kinda hear that with my tsi 2.0 as well, you don't notice it with the bonnet down..... yours does sound quite loud tho.

I listened to it now when the engine was warm.
Sounded a lot better. I filmed (and listened) when the engine was freshly started.

Sounds like a normal recorded tfsi/tsi engine to me. Videos always make sounds harsher than they really are, and I bet it doesn't sound anywhere near as harsh in the flesh.

I had it checked when i did my service at VW. Nothing wrong with it
