Bumped my bumper!

Pulled out of my drive on Sunday and the guy across the road had parked his car outside my house across my drive (which he never does!) Anyway, slightly distracted i reversed into his car and more specifically his wheel, which has left a nasty mark on the bumper, which will require filling and spraying. My question is.....because its a white car, will the whole bumper need a respray to blend it in properly or is it less noticeable due to the 'basic' colour of the paint? If it needs respraying, i think i may take the opportunity to respray the diffuser section of the bumper black.

It depends on what your looking for in the finished job. If its complete undetecablity it will need a complete bumper re-spray. I f you just want to disguise it/improve the damage then a 'smart' repair may do the trick. A lot of body shops seem to frown on the SMART system and insist on complete re-srays of damaged and adjacent areas. I was seelinga Golf V once - it had scuff on the bumper anf the local 'approved' shop wanted to re-spray the bumber and 'blend ot' in to the side of the car. Needles to say this was goinvg to cost hndrrds so I elevted for a Chips Away job which cost £60 and virtually restored it to as new - OK if you looked really carefully you could just about see work had been done - but as I said its all down to what standard you want at the end pf the job.

That doesnt sound too bad, ive just had to purchase a new bumper( well scrap dealer "new" there is a few light marks on it) and rear light cluster after my rocco rolled off my steep driveway into a wall! Great! Handbrake was on but obviously not enough and it happened to be the only time i didnt put it in gear :(! Bummer! The scirocco fairies didnt save it!!

Just taken my car to the local paint shop and they will do a full bumper respray for 160 or 180 if i want the lower diffuser part gloss black. I don't think that's a bad price and they do a good job! Whilst the car is in, im going to get my wheels powder coated.

Is it too bad to get chipsaway or dentmaster to have a look?

I reckon, so as i'm a bit of a fussy bugger! The plastic has been pushed up so it would all need sanding down.
