Noisy DSG

Post by Red201 »

I've had my 2011 gt tdi Rocco since new and not once have I noticed any form of mechanical noise when going between N & D.

This evening though its developed a distinct clunk when disengaging and engaging between N & D.

Has anyone experienced this?

Yes - but when going in to Reverse.... resulted in an investigation and complete replacement of the box under warranty. If car is still under warranty report the issue to the dealera asap!

I hear a slight noise on mine when cold when coming on and off the throttle at low speeds - would you consider this normal?

I've got it booked in for this Saturday.

Regardless of what they say there is clearly an issue with it as I've never heard it before until yesterday!

The clunk I am talking about - well you sort of felt it - a mechanical thing.. in normal driving you should not expect to hear 9or 'feel') any particular noise from the DSG gearbox itself.

That clunk from neutral to drive or reverse is normal...it's just the locking mechanism.

It can be prevented: when you park your car put the DSG in N, pull up the handbrake and then put it in P..

If it's normal, how come it's only just started and I've had the car since new ?

There is a difference between the locking mechanism 'clunk' and the one I had on the terminally faulty box. In fact sometimes it was so bad the car stalled!
