My R-Line TDi project

Post by M4CES »

Picked her up must be 3 weeks ago and since then have done some subtle mods and want to get the verdict from others on what they think now.

Fresh from VW dealers

Image

Soon after getting her home on went the bentleys

Image

Wheels came off again and new bezels for the bentleys were bought and gold plated

Image

Image

Ordered the lowering springs and should get them fitted next week.

Today I received a couple of bits in the post.

After a hour or so of mucking about I managed to remove the insides of the standard fuel filler cap and refit them to this one

Next is to fit the hid kit and somehow need to get the Bentley oil cap to fit ?

Hmmm... Each to their own, the wheels look OK but just having that diesel fuel pump handle next to a Bentley filler cap looks a bit odd!

Still, if you like it then that's what counts.

car looks great apart from the Bentley all over the wheels and the fuel cap. i personally dont understand why you would do that. its a vw scirocco not a Bentley. so why try and dress it up to something its not. but each to their own and if you like it thats all that matters. i also prefer the look of the lugano alloys rather than Bentley ones.

I knew many people wouldn't like the Bentley touches but to be honest I like em lol

Lowering is definately happening next week. I've ordered eibach springs but not sure if its going to make much difference as the rear is only a 20mm drop ?

I personally like the bentley wheels, I always have! The VAG scene loves them at the moment and I think its for a good reason! I dont get the filler cap as im a tightwad and wouldnt spend money on it, i would rather save the money and put it towards coilovers if i were you, as to set those wheels off I think you may need a bigger drop than the eibach springs! I think this will turn out nice though

I can't go to low as this is my work motor and I need it to get over speed bumps and have the boot filled up constantly lol

I'm having the eibachs fitted next week and if its not low enough then I'll have to rethink it.

Next I got to try to modify the Bentley oil filler cap and just ordered the torch.

Thanks for the comments good and bad lol

I do alot of miles for work, my area is horrendous for speed bumps and i also go into london quite alot (side streets have huge speedbumps) and i seem to be okay and i have gone 45mm lower at the front and 65mm at the back (so it completely level now) and I am fine, i just have to go slow over speedbumps but i havent scraped in about 2 months probably :)

Today went to R-Tec in St. Albans to get the car lowered.

Wasn't expecting to see the car scraping the floor as I only went for the eibach kit which is 25mm front and 20mm rear.

The car come out as expected, still looking factory but with less of an arch gap

Yay or nay ?

The 0.05 is already available as a split rim, your looking at a 4 figure set of wheels though

My pals at r-tec said everything is on hold for a month. They couldn't even give me quotes for it.

Think it's a must have rim tho whatever the cost.

Love the bentley touches and those wheels are lovely! You need it lowered a lot more though to pull them off in my opinion. If you want lows and practicality you should maybe look in to air ride?? I can still get everywhere on my coilovers and I'm down about 90mm from standard. Just got to take your time on the bumps!
