My wife's expecting our first baby in the autumn and my thoughts are turning to a new car.
Our current Clio 197 has been ideal in many ways: we live in town and don't drive to work; mainly using a car for longer weekend journeys and occasional chores around town. I've always loved cars, but choosing my next given the above is proving a real headache. On the one hand, I can see the appeal of a larger car, but also the logic of staying with a compact motor for an easy life around town.
I was wondering what people's experiences of a Scirocco are with a baby in tow? I'm quite drawn to the Golf GTi, but the Scirocco's style and price advantage (especially over the Mk6) are hard to ignore.
Scirocco - with a baby?
Re: Scirocco - with a baby?
BenH welcome, i've not got kiddies but finding the roc more practical than i imagined, the boot is uesful size with the limiting factor being the aperture of the hatch, which does kerb your spending at ikea as i found out this week

No problem.
I have permanently mounted this rear-facing childseat on the passenger seat (Ok, admittedly the wife has a stationwagon), http://www.hts.no/no/products/izicombi.php AND turned off the airbag.
OBS What ever You do, ALWAYS use a rear-facing childseat (it halfs the risk of fatal injury) http://www.hts.no/BBC/bbc.htm

Re: Scirocco - with a baby?
I've got 2 kids 11 and 2.
I bought an isofix car seat which sits/fits on the back seat really nicely (forward facing due to age and weight).
So whenever we go out in my car as a family I have a seat ready.
However my wife has an estate and I'm not sure I could live with putting the little fella in and out of the back seats.
In your case a rear facing seat (with passenger air bag off) on the front seat would be less of a problem, it's just when they get older.

Re: Scirocco - with a baby?
I use a fwd facing booster for my little boy with no probs, only consideration is that the squabs make the seat base quite narrow and some seats may not sit flat, have not used the rear facing baby seat yet, but we did try it before we brought the car in case we needed to fit both. The wifes Touran gets most of the scamps abuse day to day.
