Apart form bleeding the brakes are you required to also bleed the clutch cylinder? If so where is the location of the bleed nipple? Reference is made in the brake fluid change guide from VW but not to it's location.

Its under the air intake filter box ahead of the battery.

Is it requierd to bleed the clutch cylinder? And why?
Sorry but I have never owned a car where it is needed.
Do you use ordinary brake fluid?

Yes, the clutch fluid system should be bled. It uses the same reservoir as the brakes. Normal brake fluid is hygroscopic (water absorbing), so cross contamination can occur by the new brake fluid drawing moisture across from the clutch old fluid.
It is always needed to be changed if the circuits are from a common feed reservoir. And if the clutch circuit is separate, it is still wise to do it to avoid internal corrosion if the clutch fluid is a hygroscopic type.
Normal Scirocco brake fluid is similar to DOT 4 but under VW's spec 501 14. Part number is B 000 750. There are slight tweeks to the DOT4 spec for VW brake fluid.
The last about what has been put in, yellowplum will have to let you know.

At what service do they bleed the clutch? Same as the brakes?
I have never heard of it.

On Scirocco it is specified that both are done in the Maintenance Service operation, even though its called Brake Fluid change.

Bled the brake pipe today, bit awkward but as per my previous issue took out the battery too and left that while I did it. Only have one question relating to this - saw on a MK5 forum mention of a design flaw with the way you bleed, that everything after the bleed nipple in the slave cylinder doesn't get bled - is this the case with the scircocco?
