Pressure Washer?

Hi Guys

Heard some mixed comments recently from friends saying pressure washers are not a great way to wash a new car.
Is there any truth in this?

Just got myself a candy white Roc and as I'm sure all you other candy owners know, it kinda needs a spray down once a week.
A pressure wash would take 2 mins and remove the worst of the dirt, allowing me to give it a proper wash once a month or so.

+1 on the snow foam. Also if you are careful and don't use a stupidly powerful pressure washer is shouldn't damage the paintwork.

Thanks for the advice, yeah have heard snow foam is pretty magical stuff.

Had a quick read of the manual today and it only mentions pressure washing the parking sensors.
Says to only spend a few secs on them and not to blast them with too much water.

Yeah mate, detailing world is well worth a look.

I got my nilfisk c120 pressure washer and then got the autobrite hd snow foam lance c/w 5litrrs of magifoam.

What can I say it is fantastic and is comical to use, after a 15mins dwell time a quick rinse then the 2 bucket method with zymol auto wash (ph neutral) then another quick rinse.

Makes a 3hour car wash only 30-45mins and the car is gleaming...

I'm going to get some werkstatt acrylic base and jett to lay down some more protection as I have heard that some of the products out there with carnauba wax can make the candy white go slightly cream coloured.

if you car is well sealed with paint sealant, then a pressure washer can be useful to clear surface dirt. In some cases the dirt just flows away and a strong hose pipe pressure is enough.

a pressure washer can be useful in winter if its too cold to handwash.
I spray at an angle to avoid any damage, but i do use it mainly for the underside to wash off the road salt.

I have a nilfisk and snow foam lance.
IMO it blasts away big loose stuff but doesn't clean the car at all. If you think you are then you're too close with the jet IMO.

Its not there to replace two buckets, good solution, a wool mitt and hard graft!

I dont use the jet on the sensors or anywhere ingress is a concern (door mirrors, wiper mechanisms etc)
