Suggested Polish Routine ?

OK, I finally cleaned my Roc, & wanted to share my experience of what products worked well for me.
It takes a while but the results are always worth it.....
1. Wash using Megs Gold Class, lambswool mit & 2 bucket method !
2. Dry with towel.
3. Remove any contaminants with clay.
4. Polish with Megs Deep Crystal Shine.
5. Buff by hand.
6. Apply Megs Show Car Glaze #7.
7. Buff by hand.
8. Apply Collinite 915 wax
9. Buff by hand !
It's a fairly standard method of treating paint but the depth of shine on this Pewter Grey were stunning. I did the same to my Pearl Black Golf and it was good but not quite as deep, it did achieve a very 'wet' look.
I hope someone else finds this useful - I know what it's like trying countless, expensive products in the quest for the ultimate shine !
I'm not sure the pics really do it justice, but I've included some anyhow.

Nice job Tom, how many hours did that take?
Your results are very much better than the efforts made on the Apprentice the other night, if you watch that!

I don't think I was the only one who was cringing when the dippy dames where washing Ferraris with manky sponges

It took about 30 hours in total, but for the final polish there was two of us - Collinite can be hard to remove. I missed the apprentice, but heard all about it ! lol

i bought autoglym pack from halfords it cost about £40 and it came with a sponge, i'm guessing an autoglym sponge is just as bad as your average sponge??

Yup, any sponge is bad. I was sceptical when I bought a microfibre mit, but went for it anyway and they really are good. Must use the 2 bucket method though, or you'll still be doing damage to the paint
I was also amazed at the ease of use of some of the more expensive products, put me off cheap polishes and waxes for life. The results seem to last longer as well.

that must have taken quite a while lol i've got a bit of a problem because i don't have a drive way, i have to do mine at work on my lunch break

so i can just about manage a wash and polish and to clean the alloys etc. i use the autoglym super resin polish but i read somewhere you should only use this up 6 times a year! is that a load of rubbish? because it doesn't say anything on the back about that on the back of bottle.

SRP is great polish and yes you can use it more than 6 times a year, but if you want to you could seal in the shine using a more resilient wax. I think that a wash, polish & wax is pushing it a bit in a dinner break though lol !
