Had the same problem on my old GTI, could never keep the exhaust clean!

Anyone got any methods for keep the exhaust free from stains??

i just use normal machine polish (for buffing cars) and a cloth wrapped round each exhaust tip and get rubbing :yes: i tried to make that so it didnt sound sexual lol:shrug:

Try brasso its slightly less harsh apparently well it works for me anyway lol
Car is now Sold!!!!! BMW 7 Series for now as nice and big but holding out for something a little special as my toy :)

I have noticed this with this car. My previous Audi A3 had the same chrome finish (albeit only One tailpipe) and i never had this problem. I have to polish mine everytime I clean the car because normal washing doesn't clean it properly.

I can recommend this... even after three years my exhausts on my ST3 looked like new :)

So far so good on my exhaust! Just like when your mum cleans her pans lol and I only use the Brillo Pad on the lip that turns black not the shaft...

Autosol and a bit of wire wool gets the exhausts back to shiny, but if you want to use a product that helps prevent further tarnishing, Raceglaze Alutech is a great product - you can use it with a normal microfibre, or with some wire wool for a bit more oomph, and it leaves behind a protective film that helps keep them shiny for longer
