Does anyone know if are there adjustment bolts/mountings fitted on the Mk3?

There are a number of bolt fixings but none seem to adjust the headlamp beam angle :-(

There doesn't seem to be any plastic ones there, unless its hiding away inside the housing somewhere.

Thanks anyway.

Oooooo but there is grasshopper :D Inside the dipped beam housing IIRC, there's a metal spindle which adjusts the high beam level seperately from the dipped. :hyper: I'll try and get a snap of it tomorrow if I remember.
Now I no longer light up the tops of trees when zipping around the lanes

Yes, aware of that little spindle but it doesn't straight forwardly adjust the reflector with it being at a 45' angle position on the mainbeam reflector rim. What it does is either raise the beam or lower it but at the same time the main beam lamps create a crosseyed (up and more inward) or wide eye (down and pointing outwards) effect. So the only point where the beams are generally straight ahead is at one position as set.

Nor is it an official maintenance control.

I think the other point to say is that the standard VW Philips bulb beams on the low beam outer reflectors fall short on ground at the outer end of the beam for some reason. Changing the headlight bulbs fills this darker outer area. Adjusting the dip upwards to compensate for the original VW headlight bulb's shortfall will mean the oncoming driver's are dazzled by the low beam. When comparing Philips Long Life original v Philips X-treme Vision replacement, there was distinct difference in the filament position. Which may explain the beam throw difference. Link.

Fantastic. Thanks guys, that's gonna be really useful.
I'm wondering if it was a bloody pothole that might have knocked a headlamp askew. When I say pothole, I really mean a crater!!!

Cheers for the info.

I’m pretty sure that you would need a set of headlights from a LHD model
