Can anyone suggest a good tar remover. My car is covered in tar spots despite being clayed back in september its worse than before. Ive used autoglym intensive tar remover in the past as well as claying.

Im interested to hear if there are better products out there?

Cheers

I like Tardis

Works a treat but its pro strength so will strip all the sealant or wax as well so you have to add sealant or wax afterwards.

I just bought auto finesse Oblitarate. Washed car the other week and noticed build up of tar. Waiting for better weather and when I'm not feeling so ill to try it out.

That's what I always use as well and find it very good

Loosen with White Spirit, Polsih & finish with G3.

You might find that the white spirit takes it all off, if you get the tarnish brown residue deeper into the lacquer you'll need the G3 or similar grade polish.

I recently started using a new tar remover called concept tar and glue remover, as i mentioned in another thread it is what i would imagine a mix of petrol and nuclear waste would smell like but its good stuff

Agreed. I have used it twice and found it works great. Over on detailing world many people say that it works better than the legendary autosmart tardis.

also consider the tar and iron dust remover from carpro. Does 2 jobs from a single bottle.

I'd prefer to use dedicated products for each job. As they are both different things I would say that one product to do both wouldn't be as effective as having a dedicated tar remover and fall out remover.

I've used WD40 in the past for removing tar marks, works a treat and dirt cheap!

It really doesn't.
Plus it's much, much cheaper.
Everyone on Detailing World coddles up to Auto Finesse....

I cant compare as i haven't used tardis
I cant justify buying 5 litres of it when i dont use alot of it. Agree that it is much cheaper but if like me you only need a little bit why pay for 5 litres when you can buy 500ml obliterate.

Definitely recommend Oblitarate. Was cleaning my engine bay last week and for the grime that i couldn't get off with Verso, Oblitarate just dissolved in seconds! Great stufff

That's true, it's a shame AS won't sell products in smaller denominations. Some detailers do sell it seperately or occasionally you can buy them split down on Ebay lol (I'm sure you know already :) )

Yeh it is as theres a few things autosmart i would like to try but dont want loads of 5 litre cans laying about forever. Yeh im aware of them being sold on ebay in smaller size's. but how do you know what you are buying is what it is surpose to be and not waterd down etc. Autosmart highly recommend you dont buy their products through ebay for this reason. And thats why i havent tried tardis and other stuff unfortunately.
