Hi guys my 2.0 170 TDi is coming up 3 years old at 37,000 miles so its due its 2nd longlife service. I will be putting the car through the MOT aswell for convenience.

My first longlife service was roughly £140 (from memory) so as it was the 2nd one i was expecting to pay a bit more but was quoted £280 for the full service and £40 for the MOT. I was hoping it was going to be around the £200-220 mark for the servicing and thought it sounded a little steep.

The only thing different they do compared to a minor service is replace the air filter and the fuel filter really.... does this justify doubling the service price to £280!! BTW this is with sinclair volkswagen in Bridgend.

Im half tempted to goto my local garage who is very reptuable. But would like to keep the full VW servicing :/

So how much did you guys pay for your 2nd longlife service.

Cheers!

Dean

It'll also be due a brake fluid change, if that's not included in the price.

I would need to double check my service report, but i think mine included brake fluid change, and i paid £220 at a VW specialist (Central Audi WV) in Birmingham in Feb this year, plus they did some free VAGCOM coding for me :)

Buy your own oil and give it to them to use it. They knocked £90 off my price on the basis it was a longlife service. For some reason they charge loads more on a long life service when all they seem to do is use a different grade of oil which in truth is not much different in pirce- a bit of a con if you ask me.

I know the oil costs me £35 but thats a great saving over what they were going to charge me.

Also i notice on the second variable service depending on milesge they neglect to change the fuel filter as they get mixed up. I changed the fuel filter myself this time so i can ensure it gets done.

I just get the 2 year plan. Both services and MOTs included. Prob paid over the odds, but I've never had an issue from them as far as dealers go. It's a nice trip out to Cov once in a while too.
