Fitting a Speed Limiter

Post by Essenwood »

My Rocco has got the standard speed limiter, which is just a barely audible sound/ alert that warns that you have reached a set speed. Most of the time I am unable to hear it. Other cars I have owned had a system that prevented further acceleration past the set limit. Is it possible to retro fit such a system ?

Set wintertire warning to the speed you need. Then you get a beep and text warning in the mfd.

I have got that. It is available via the MFD. However it is just a warning "gong" that is barely audible. The text message is not really helpful either, as it acts more as a distraction. I am wanting to be able to set in a specific speed, and when that is reached further acceleration is denied. When I had the Stage 1 APR fitted it was programmed so that it's various settings (Advanced/Original/Valet) are activated via the Cruise Control on and off switch. There must be a VAG setting that can be retro fitted to carry out a proper speed limiter setting.

Not on petrol. And on diesel if you lower it, it stays lowered perminantly, can't be raised again.

You will need to go the APR way... if the tuner puts the facility with their re-map. Not seen one for recent TSi.

My satnav (Navman) has a function that can be set to give both a noise and a verbal warning when you exceed whatever speed you set into the system. I only discovered this when my daughter set it 'for a laugh' and of course you can ignore it so it's not a proper limiter but it does give quite a loud warning.
