Lead Times!

Had a R on order just about a year and a half ago, cancelled due to waiting 8 months, no collection date, and the monthly payments being changed (more expensive) as VW apparently only hold there deals for 6 months at a time? Ended up with a Ibis White TT 2.0 TFSI Black Edition, while it looks good (IMO) I miss the power (coming from a vxr burg previously)
My order was:
Rising Blue (changed to CW after a month)
19's
I am now 6 months left till my lease is up on the audi, and have enquired about the R again, once again quoted times of around 6 months again. Is there any reason for such long build times still? Also has there been any changes to the R now from when they first arrived on the scene?
Lastly, when is the new R scheduled? 2014?
My order this time would be:
Indium Grey
19's
Sunroof
RNS Dynaudio
Any help would be appreciated.

When I was deciding between the GT and R, I got quoted around 14-16 weeks for the manual, with at least 4 extra if it had the dsg box. As for the 6 month offer, it's partially true from my own experience. I ordered in one quarter and kept all the financial benefits from that - the dealer chose to pick up the cost of the service pack going slightly up in price. So it's how your dealer handles it more than anything.
I believe there have been numerous changes in terms of standard trim, but I couldn't point them out unfortunately!

Leasing company had blamed the dealer, the dealer blamed head of VW. Which all got rather tedious and I cancelled. Guess this time around I know there is that wait and can order accordingly. It's either that or waiting on the merc a45 amg which is rumoured to be out by spring next year. Cant get my head round the M135i's looks to make me go for that.

You have found a dealer that tells you the truth :-)
It also depends when you take the leadtime from. Some dealers take it from orderp laced where others are more devious and give the time from order acceptance by VW
I should add it also depends on dealer allocation of slots.

This.
As I mentioned above though, choosing DSG does seem to have a big impact on lead times, so I don't know if you were looking at that..
