Using the Aux In with the stereo

I have a 11-plate GT Bluemotion and there is a 3.5mm input on the armrest. I have tried connecting my MP3 player via a 3.5mm lead but don't know how to put the stereo into AUX IN mode. I have the 6 CD-Changer in the dashboard. There is a mode for Radio and for Media but the Media mode only has options on the touchscreen for CD, SD Card and the USB connection (also in the armrest) and no sound comes via the 3.5mm jack with any of those options. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Tony

I seem to recall that if you have to enable the Aux in option in the settings on your radio. Then the Aux In option should appear at the top of the screen when you are in the Media mode.

Thanks, but I've not that option anywhere I can see. The only visible options at the top of the Media screen are for CD, SD Card and USB.

I assume you have a RCD510. Then Press the Setup button -> Media -> Activate AUX input

Thanks. I found the activate Aux-In option and ticked that. But I must be missing something really obvious as I still can't seem to get any sound out of it! The three modes on the buttons on the left are Radio, Media and Phone. I've tried all the options in Media but no sound is coming through on either the CD or Media-In modes (Media-In just plays my connected USB stick). Even though Aux-In is activated in the menu, I can't find an option to switch to it as an input choice. The only other option on my Media screen is SC Card (which is greyed out).

If you have a USB or ipod cable plugged in to the MDI socket inside the armrest then the Aux jack is disabled. Unplug the cable and select Media on the screen.
I have a hard drive plugged in to my USB port which I have to disconnect when I want to use the iPhone as a satnav thru the speakers.

Ah, great. That's done the trick. A bit of a shame to have to unplug my USB stick every time, but glad to get it working. Thanks!
