Engine manifold and injector seal problem

Hi all,
I'm having a few probs with my 58 plate 2.0 TSI - I was driving the other day and the Exhaust System Warning light came on
- the car was only out of warranty in January (typical). I took it to the dealer and they ran the diagnostics and they've said that it needs a new engine manifold gasket and injector seals and have quoted £580. They then said that they might be able to apply VW Goodwill, and have since offered to pay 60% of the parts and labour (I guess because it's only just out of warranty, I have a full service history with them and I've only done 25k miles). So, it's not as bad, but still £230!
Is this a known fault? Anyone had anything else similar?
Over the last few months I've also had intermittent misfiring/subtle loss of power/lumpiness under throttle (worse when the engine is cold). Probably related?
The car's due into the dealer for repairs on Friday - although it's currently at the bodyshop as it got keyed outside the house the other week - so having a bad run of luck!!!
Any help/advice much appreciated.
