Scirocco Central

my shiny blue scirocco has been invaded by ants, i think specifically inside the right door. friendly enough i guess but still ants!

so i've coated the door metal & the edging in antstop spray, liquid version of ant powder, hasn't done the metal work any harm upto now & don't think it will do but without paying someone to remove the door & look inside it, is there anything else i can do?

It would be unusual for ants to set up nest inside your car, but not impossible. They a re probably raiding your car for food from a nest somewhere where you park it. Don't leave any sweets or food crumbs in your car to attract them.
The ant spray is picked up on the legs of the ants and is taken back to the nest where its should eventually kill them all - but this could take some time to take effect.

Wash the car & brush near area with car shampoo & water. Destroys the "follow me" trails that the path finders have laid. You may have to wash the floor pan and under sills depending on where they are running to get inside. Observe where the "runs" on the Scirocco are first.

Then deal with the nest area nearby with spray or powder.
