Temporary loss of Drive, Dash Gear Lights Flash - DSG

Post by RobArro »

Hi All,

New to this forum and I signed up as I seem to have a similar problem (Topic in R forum: Temporary loss of Drive - DSG (R)).

I have a 2008 2TSI DSG 6 speed owned from new so I know its been treated well and services by main dealer. Recently at low speed and in Semi Auto all the gear position lights flash and the gear box goes to neutral.

Seems to be a lot of people in web forums talking about this issue but no one with a fix… :(

Thanks for any help!

Hi Rob. Yours sounds more like a Mechatronic control u.it issue. I would get it in and diagnosed asap

Did you get yours fixed, or finally ident the problem? Seems to be a lot of people in web forums talking about this issue but no one with a fix… :(

Hi Rob,

Different problem...... Check the boot metal floor to the left side of the spare wheel well for a little white VW sticker. There be more than one. One should have written on it 37E8. It may have also been noted in the back of the 1.1 Service Schedule book in the back pages under Workshop Comments section. If not the symtoms are that the gearbox clutch sensor corrections have not been performed. The Scirocco should have been recalled for it in late 2009.

http://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/forum/ ... 83&p=37820" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

(NB. Sometimes the stickers are placed on the driver's door pillar by the door hinges.)

The stickers look like this (this is Recall 24S4 - no associated with your problem) .......
24S4 Sticker.JPG
If sticker is fitted, then it looks like the clutch temperature sensor may have failed. Or given mileage, the Drag Torque on the clutch is too high, in which case the clutch pack will have to be changed. They should find fault code at the dealers for "implausible gear change", number 19143 (http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.ph ... 711/010001" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) when the Scirocco is hooked up to the diagnostics.

I've been searching all day for a Medtronics. Is this a new mod with a media connection to the gearbox? Bit odd your R is fitted with it.

Rest of us have Mechatronic DSG's

I had this problem with my first Roc. VW replaced the mechatronics unit under warranty and this fixed the issue. No problems with the R so far.
08/11 - 12/13 2.0 TSI R DSG, Black / Black Vienna
01/09 - 08/11 2.0 TSI GT DSG, Black / Truffle Vienna

Black is the new Black....
