Roc vs UK Width Restrictions

Post by Lloydyboy »

Hi

I've got a quick question, which I know the obvious answer is to just try it myself but I haven't yet picked my Roc up so am just curious.

Basically on my route to and from work I have to go through a set of width restrictions (7' 0) which I can manage no problem in my Clio but looking at the measurements the Roc is going to have about an inch either side!

I just want to know am I worrying about nothing and do people get through these with no problem?

Hope that makes sense.

Thanks

Lloyd

Lloyd the roc may be wide but it isn't that wide, where did you get an inch spare on either side from?

I did think this but going on the dimensions in the Scirocco brochure it says;

WIDTH (INC DOOR MIRRORS): 2080mm

Which converts to - 6.824064 ft

It is a widecar but its nowhere near as wide as a big SUV or a transit or something like that. Do they fit?
I go through a realy narrow width restictor most mornings and have to creep through but it fits.
They feel and look a lot wider than they really are.
Oh and the wing mirrors are really quite big....

Yeah I know it will go - guess I'm just worrying.

I have just thought though, I had a Vauxhall Insignia for the day not long back and I got that through without hitting the mirrors.

When i first purchased my Scirocco, i thought it was pretty wide, i mean it wouldn't even fit in a driveway a family member had to keep the car of the road.

But it isn't that wide. Wide yes, Not SUV wide :D

Just the way it looks

I was quite surprised to find that my Roc is actually wider than my old Jag X-Type was. I can't even get it into my 1960's built garage with the mirrors pulled in! On the other hand I have never had to avoid a width restriction on public roads so it aint that bad.

Not as wide as a Volvo FL4 Fire Engine.
