just seen the 1st pictures of the mk6 gti in auto express, it looks stunning so will be canceling my order for the scirocco and will make sure i will be one of the 1st to order the gti looks like it will be about 700 quid more than the scirocco so its well in my price range of 25k, looks like i ll have to wait about another 4 months for my car though the scirocco was due 1st of march, and the gti comes out in the summer.

The only thing I would want from the new GTI on my Scirocco would be the steering wheel....
.. plus the new dials for the AC - they could have made some more effort for the Scirocco esp since it was a new model and not a recent upgrade.
For those interested more shots of the new GTI can be found here...

Doesn't do it for me I'm afraid....
I've recently had a company car package & previous cars in my price range would've been Golfs / A3s... bland, boxlike & boring - wouldn't temp me away from my highly-modified, privately-owned 306 cabriolet (with a V6 lump whacked up front).... however the 'Rocco instantly won me over with it's looks.... it was a primal thing... so now I'm selling my cabby & dreaming about my new 'Rocco... I'm so so in love
I keep changing my mind on config but reckon Black, anthracite leathers, DGS, sunroof, Dynaudio

Steering wheel does look the business!
Would be nice if the cabin on the Scirocco was more like this new GTI interior, but at £700 perhaps there is not just the budget....

Yes exactly they went for so much effort on the outside, where as on the inside they just went hmmm we can use all the old stuff from the Golf.
The steering wheel and dials for the Sirocco are the same as my current 4 yr old Golf apart from the lights on the dials of course, so you can imagine I'm not overly excited about the interior.
I'm still happy with my choice, the exterior more than anything makes me choose it over the Golf any day; I think some after delivery interior alterations will be made.
I'd rather have this new style steering wheel than the old, just to go with my new car.

I agree.
It's a pity the cabin wasn't used as it must have been pretty close to ready when production needed to begin but I can live with it. I suspect they'll add it in a midlife facelift.
I like to drive something a little less ordinary than essentially a regular golf with big wheels.

There's no doubt that this is the best looking GTi since the MKII, but for me it's far too tall to be of interest. I read an interview with the designer, which stated that the new front end treatment is much more effective at hiding the height of the car than the MK 5 'big gob'. It remains a tall car.
I like the dual exhausts, the dash and the steering wheel, but the Scirocco's seats look much better than those in the Gti.
On balance, still the Scirocco for me.
(Damn shame they couldn't have given the Scirocco the MK6 interior - I agree that it's an obvious mid-life update.)

I was a bit surprised of the new golf as it screams of a facelift rather than the new model it should have been.
