Scirocco 1.4tsi Startup Problem, Help!!

Post by jsamurai »

Im having a problem with my rocco! When I start it in the morning it takes a few seconds for the engine to turn over, the started motor runs then 5 - 10 sec later the engine turns over...

Any ideas on what could be wrong??
I've taken her to VW they say nothing's wrong, they've remapped her but the problem had seemed to get worse!!

I'll post a video on YouTube Taz and drop the link below.

Thanks

The usual for this, as it eventually starts, is lack of retained fuel pressure after the engine has stopped. Won't affect the normal running once started. Ignition I've assumed is OK as the engine runs.

1) Does it do it everytime or just after a period of non-use, ie. half a day. If it re-starts on second time starts 5 to 10 mins later it points to retained fuel pressure in the injection system is being lost.

2) Does it start rough or run normally once the engine picks up? Rough is flooding and suggests an injector weeping. Smooth is loss of internal fuel pressure, in which case looking at the fuel non-return valve at the Fuel Pressure Regulating Valve or fuel pump.

The non-return valve may have a speck of dirt on its seal or similarly an injector.

First call would be to put a fuel system treatment/cleaner through with the fuel to see it if it shift the offending speck of dirt.

After that, the "valves" will need replacing if 2) is occurring. There are valve points in the Fuel Pump, Fuel Pressure Regulating Valve and the Injectors themselves. So finding it is difficult without the specialised equipment and diagnostic measuring in the dealership. It can all be checked to see which section of the fuel feed is de-pressurising.

Thats the traditional usuals.....

Finally found out what the problem was!!! my turbo was busted!!!
One of the vanes broke off inside the turbo, so it wasn't spinning properly, it bent the central rotation rode, which cut off air intake!!!
But she's all better nw, full turbo system replacement :D
