Hi guys! Just signed up to the forum this morning!
I've finally bought a new candy white R this weekend, after debating it for the last month. Hopefully picking it up on the 1st March, im literally so excited I can't sleep! lol
Im a bit sad that ive part exchanged my civic type R, but hopefully i'll forget about it the minute they give me the keys to the VW.
Here are a few photos of the new car, sorry its so dirty- it was pouring down with rain.
What is the correct way to run this car in? The dealer didn't really know when i asked them
Thanks in advance
Simon

Great looking car Simon, like yourself, I would not be able to wait to pick it up. Lucky chap!
As for running in, surprised garage could not advise you but as per any other car, take it easy for at least the first 1000 miles, ensure the oil is up to temp before using higher revs, try and avoid heavy braking for at least the first 100 miles and try and vary the engine speed a little bit.
I don't believe cars need running in to the same extent these days because of much improved engineering techniques with finer tolerances.
Above all - enjoy the car!

Hello Simon,
The detail of running in should be in your Scirocco' handbooks it came with.
What it doesn't warn you about is the brakes. A few people have experienced "oddities" with high speed braking upto about 1,000 miles in such instances as braking heavily above 60 mph on a motorway slip road. It tends to serve until the brakes are fully bedded in.
Tyres should be scuffed up to grip well by 300 miles.
Engine & gearbox as Skippy writes, vary your driving style & gradually exercise the engine rpm more as the miles rise to 1,500 miles. Vary your driving between knocking around and cruising at speed as well as gradually increasing the peak rpm. Won't be fully bedded in by 1,500 miles but at that point you can drive anyway way you want. Engine will take until 5k to 10k miles to fine tune and fully bed in.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys.
I too was a little surprised that the dealers didn't know, i will have to have a good read through the manual when i get it! Its going to be a challenging 1000-1500 miles, going to have to keep my right foot under control, lol.
Does the ACC need any running in, or is it safe to have play with with this from day one?
munchy, how does the ride quality compare with the roc on 19s in sport mode to the type r?
