Xenon Lights

Hi, literally last weekend i orderd my scirocco GT and im very excited.
However i did not order xenons but still tempted to add them on, now i do really like them but my issue is what colour are the side lights (top and little bottom ones) and fogs compared to the nice white xenons. Sounds silly but i dont wanna fork out for fancy lights to then have to change the other light bulbs..
If you could let me know that would be great.
Adam

TBH if your worried about the cost of changing bulbs to match the xenons then maybe a xenon conversion isnt for you LOL, i cant help with bulbs as mine has R Led's, oh and no need to worry about the fogs as i have been driving quite a few years and only ever needed them on once

First of all; go for the xenons, you won't regret!
So to you question; the sidelight, DRL and fog bulbs do look quite different than the 4600K xenons. They are much more yellow (standard 3200K halogens), and the sidelights together with the xenons look bad IMO. But these bulbs are both easy and cheap to change, so don't let that decide whether to for the xenons or not.
For a list over some of the bulbs/LEDs I bought you may take a look at this post:
http://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/forum/ ... 140#p93230" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
There are also several other alternatives when it comes to bulbs/LEDs, but those listet above are very cheap and do work very well.
Below is a picture of my car illustrating the difference (original sidelight on the left, LED sidelight on the right):
As you can see, the LED matches the xenon quite well.

Get the Xenons,
If you have had xenons before you will regret it and kick yourself every time its dark.
I made the mistake of not adding them to my order but ive been able to retrofit them myself. I wished I had ordered them at the time to save all the hassle

No question go for Xenons not only for the lights but for these reasons too;
- you don't have headlights on all the time in lieu of DRLs
- you get separate halogen DRLs which you can switch on and off via the MFD.
- you get cornering lights within the clusters
- you also get LED number plate lights.

I'm new to this site so please forgive my ignorance. I did not go for Xenon lights on my car and have regretted it ever since. used to have them on my Saab and really miss them. is it a simple thing to change retrospectively and I presume its not cheap? Would you recommend the VW dealer for this or is any mechanic capable?

There is a description on the roccopedia section - which seems to indicate great expense - £1500

I'd suggest that where you live makes a difference. I live in central London where I do 95% of my driving. I honestly can't remember the last time I used my main beams, it's been years for sure. If I lived in a country village it would be different but for me the only reason to cough up for Xenons is fashion. And I'm afraid I'm just not that fashionable.

We do actually live in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by farms and country lanes. it used to be great fun flying round the lanes when it was dark.....but then we had a baby and the fun stopped!! lol
To be honest, if I was having a new build then I would definately go for Xenon again but this time round, for that sort of money then its just not worth it.

Anyone - please help. I've just bought a 170 GT replacing my audi S3 - and very happy with the result. However, without Xenon lamps I'm struggling in the depths of Northumberland - can I retro fit Xenons or HiD lamps without compromising the warranty? Can anyone suggest options to improve the light output - different bulbs - xenon or LED? Can anyone suggest LEDs to fit to the fog lights and side lights - a supplier and how easy to fit? As I'm new I appreciate your patience if its posted on the forum and I haven't found it.
Also - where can you buy the sill strips and labelled carpet mats at a reasonable price?
