Just been to a market research study for VW and some dude insisted that the DSG box was going to be standard on all models.
Is this true??

Given it's a £1500 option and costs more to manufacture than the manual box I can't ever see VW making it a standard fit option anytime soon. Except maybe in some countries like the US where nearly all cars sold are automatic.kianok wrote:Just been to a market research study for VW and some dude insisted that the DSG box was going to be standard on all models.

I agree to most of that but I also believe one day it will be the standard however not on a Scirocco and not anytime soon.tartangti wrote:Given it's a £1500 option and costs more to manufacture than the manual box I can't ever see VW making it a standard fit option anytime soon. I've not heard this or read it anywhere in recent press/reviews etc and cannot see why VW would seek to standardise an option that costs more to produce. More generally I can see all manufacturers moving towards more efficient and economical platforms and if this is proven may well be coming down the line in years to come, but then again so is remotely controlled distance control and speed limiting on major routes.by kianok » Thu Mar 05, 2009 10:31 pm
