Question on Bluetooth handsfree (new owner!)

Hi, this is my 1st forum post having put my deposit on a 2010 2.0 GT yesterday.

Having driven an S2000 for the last 4.5 years I'm not used to luxury bits like handsfree kits :vibes:

The car I'm getting has a small credit card size display fitted in the top corner of the dash, nice colour display and looks pretty flash. The salesman said it was because the stock radio didn't work on new phones, I'm wondering now if this will render the wheel controls useless? It's the non satnav touch screen I have.

My description is probably a bit vauge, just wondered if anyone had any clues what I'm getting...I'll pop in the dealers again tomorrow as its bugging me now!

John

I suspect it is nothing to do with the RCD510 (radio) not being compatible with new phones. More to the point that the the factory Bluetooth option was not specified and a aftermarket hands free has been installed.

The unit you have is most likely the VW branded aftermarket Bury unit, which 'should' be linked to the cars Multi-Function wheel controls.

As above it's the aftermarket unit. BT didn't become standard until orders placed after 1/8/2011. Before this date it was a cost option

I have one It works thru the radio. Steering wheel controls don't work it
U have to use the touch screen on the unit or the phone controls

Funny tho. With the radio turned off and the phone head unit removed. The radio still sees it!
