Officially I'm 'from' Essex in that I grew up near Stansted... however I live in Cambridge now. Can do Chelmsford/Chigwell in an hour no probs though, and tend to do Chlemsford quite a bit in the summer months due to one my mates being the captain of Essex Cricket club.

I'm quite close, I live in Leyton :)

Not got a Scirocco....yet.

Current car is a 07 Type R and the lease runs out in May. Struggling to make my mind up.

I think the Scirocco is a lovely looking car BUT it does need to be lowered and those GT wheels are f'ugly. The guy on here who has candy white with RS4 grey wheels has got it right!

Also performance is a question.... I don't want anything slower than my current car, so interested in seeing how a remapped 'roc compares.

Having owned a 54 plate facelift Type-R (Hence the username) and a 2005 facelift S2000 I can say hand on heart I would cream a type-r with my current car have far to much of a power advantage, the standard 2.0 ltr dsg is faster too :)

Happy to take you for a spin some time :)

Wow would love to mate :) Still waiting for VW Loughton to sort themselves out a demonstrator.... Honestly you'd think they would knuckle down in times like these and actually put a bit of graft to sell cars but no chance.... Tried test driving a R32 there and got told I'd have to sign finance documents first and get agreed before they let me out. Now I'm being told they don't have any Sciroccos to drive.. lol. I'm no big spender but I've always driven new cars so someone has made money off me. Feel like I'm bothering them even walking in there :) Still they do have 1 nice salesmen... lets hope he can sort one out soon :)

I'm very impressed with your power figures.... 260/285 is bound to be seriously quick. I figure 30-40 of that is remap.... how much more did you need to squeeze the rest out? exhaust/new air intake? Worth it?

The majority of the power was gained by the re-map, I have a cat back milltek too which gave about 10 bhp I am fitting a carbonio carbon induction kit soon too but I dont expect to much from that possibly 3bhp but its more for the throttle response.

Loughton were really good with me and I was straight out on a test drive when I went in which is really strange! mind you they do recognise me when I take my Dads Touareg in for servicing and I have popped in there in my brothers R32 too lol also they wanted to make the deal there and then and I had my car in 4 days 8)

How do you find the R32 against the Scirocco? It was high on my list but felt way too heavy on those tight Epping roads and I ended up getting 9mpg. Kinda put me off.... I love the engine though... I just know I'd end up driving it slowly just to save petrol :)

It sounds great, doesnt have the rush the scirocco has when the turbo kicks in but there is a lot more grip, the scirocco can be a little nose heavy when pushing on in the bends, power wise the scirocco has the edge lower down and the R32 has it higher up in terms of acceleration there isnt much between the two cars but obvioulsy the manner in which its achived is very different. I doubt that the R32 would match the new lease of life the car has gained since the re-map and milltek.

I tend to use the roads around epping, abridge and ongar for a fun drive :)
