Air vent noise

I've noticed a sound coming from the air vents. It's a whistle/air flow sound. At first I thought it was just the air con, but it's still there even of I turn the air con/ fan off. The noise quietens when the brake pedal is depressed.
Any ideas what the sound is?

Are you sure it's not the turbo?

To prove it's air coming through the vents just manually direct all airflow to the floor closing off the dash vents

I'll give that a go. What I don't get is that it's not speed dependant. It switches off, or slows, when the brake is applied, which makes me think it's powered. Or am I just not controlling the airflow correctly by pressing off? It's an '09 2.0tsi

It's not coming from my air vents. It's coming from the brake pedal. The pedal hisses when it is depressed. Is this a leak in the braking system, or is it normal?!

Turns out it was a leaking brake servo - new part on order, car is staying in over night and it'll be fixed under warranty. I just called in to Sinclair Vw Swansea and they looked at it there and then.
