Next ship for Emden, Germany is the
Emden leaving Setabul on the 12.04.10 @ 01:30.
I'm surprised it's not on the
Tenerife Car leaving 10.04.10 @ 01:30 direct for Sheerness in Kent....

How frequent are the ships? I.e. if mine is to be built in week 16, in which week will it likely ship?

Hook in here, all the sailings since Jan'10 for UK bound shipments ..........
http://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/forum/ ... &start=280" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Rule of thumb is about once a fortnight to Emden, Germany and Sheerness, Kent each. But ship spot hiring can mean a weekly frequency sometimes.
(Once a week to the Mediterranean Sea ports as well.)
Against current ship sailings this week and early next week, wk16 could be split to a ship that week with build complete on Mon., Tues. or Wed.. While Wk16 build complete Thurs. & Fri. may be not shipped until Wk18. It all depends on ship available capacity, final destination of the Sciroccos and how much factory output is being made for the UK & World market (less Mediterrean ports) that week or fortnight.

you need to call vw customer services (see the vw website contact us page for number) they can advise what build week your car is currently reading as, with regard to shipping details i'm not sure how much information they are able to advise on but worth asking.
please remember its luck of the draw as to how switched on the person is that you get on the end of the phone.

Dealer told me week 14 with it being delivered between mid and end of June. However, for what I read here, people with similar built dates are getting estimated deliveries of May. I am confused... but hopeful

Hi Snowfox
dealers tend to be quite conservative with their build to delivery estimates as it does all depend on how your car hits the shipping schedule see
here for updates from our very own shipping guru
its also worth noting that it appears the Inchcape dealership network 'push' their cars from the ports as soon as they arrive whereas other dealers have to request their cars via VW UK which takes longer
this is based on ordering in the uk so apologies if you are elsewhere in the world

Hey Trix! I am in the UK indeed
just hoping my Portuguese brothers get that rocco built really soon and perfect
Can't wait.
Thank you for the info and shipping details.
I even went to Googlemaps to check the factory out. There's some sort of stock park and race tracks, I thought they would come straight from Setubal to the UK but I read here something about having them tested in Germany!? Wow, that is nuts!
Right now I am dreaming of a call saying "come and pick it up next week", lol

i believe they get a brief drive round a test track (ie lumps bumps & cornering track not excessive speed track) to check things are functioning as needed.
some cars are getting shipped direct & some are getting via germany depending on schedule & number requiring sending to the specific end destination, those that go via germany are not going there for quality checks as such now just redistribution to ships going to the correct places.

stranger things have happened mine was exactly 1 week from build complete to dealer forecourt so keep those fingers crossed.
anyway get on over the shipping thread & try to work out what ship yours may have been on & when it should be arriving/arrived in the UK

you need to know your anticipated build date before you can start praying for that one really Dan, it depends what months allocations your order has gone in on to VW UK.

thats pretty good dan!! rocs are built on a 'just in time' system so parts are ordered so they arrive just in time for manufacture they don't hold massive stocks of everything so once your order is logged they have to work out how it will fit in with what parts are being delivered when.

yer just had a look on the calander, it should be built w/c 14th June, but the dealer was still quoting mid Aug, if it takes 2-4 for deliverly i should get it mid june not mid aug i guess

Thanks for that RW1.
Even better news, I am told that it skipped the Emden shipment and went straight to Sheerness. My dealer could not get hold of the vessel name from VW Customer Services, but I got in today to receive an e-mail from him saying that the boat had docked "today". Optimism is that the car will be on a transporter to this end of the UK by the weekend (famous last words).
I'm trying to find out how long they will sit on the car doing the pre-delivery inspection thing. As long as they are careful getting the volcanic ash off the paintwork.
