I've asked to cancel my order - they said it may still go confirmed next week for build 47??? I'll have to wait till Monday and talk with the manager. I can't get my head round why you wouldn't have a confirmed build date nearly 3 months after placing the order??? again unless they've used their allocation .....but why not say:(
don't want to cancel ........feel cheated! .......unless anyone else doesn't have a confirmed build after 3 months?
Sorry starting to moan! .....thanks for replies!
i order on the 27th july and only had it confirmed to me last monday for week 46, so was three months for me, and expect to collect around the 7 th dec possibly sooner going by shipping lead times

alymac, pleased you'll get yours before xmas! ......2 weeks before build seems to be cutting it fine to confirm, but hey you've got it!
So on that reckoning I should get the call tomorrow "Confirmed for wk 47!" ........happy days!!! .....or am I being to optimistic!!!

Well I placed my order on 1st August and was initially told it would take 12 weeks for delivery (beg Nov). For last 2 months i've had a unconfirmed build date of Week 47 build, and on saturday was told my build date had been put back to Week 48 due the number of forward orders!! But at least its now confirmed!!
Dealer says it should be at the garage by 2nd week in December (Week 50/51). Is this realistic??

If the recent pattern follows, then Wk48 & 49 build finish (Frozen build week No.) will sail 5th Dec and arrive Sheerness early 7th and to dealers as quick as 9th Dec. But the latter at the dealers depends on the dealer pulling the car away from the UK docks. Someones from last week is still sitting in the docks - small dealership. Mine and Trix's were Inchcape and they must have a team working the UK docks, sending them to the dealers instead of dealers requesting. Check if your dealer is Inchape owned, not its local dealership name, the parent company. Other big UK car chains may be the same.
So your Wk50/51 is feasible.

Just had an email saying mine's due on 05 February (ordered sometime in Sept). Now what to do? Get the car I'm very impatient to drive or get them to hang onto it for (gulp!) four weeks so I can have it with the new plate on?

Think if you pick it up in Feb they will pay the extra VAT, if you pick it up on 1st March they won't! Not sure what i would do either!

Hi all, i've had my build week confirmed as week 48, by the dealer today.
Am I looking at christmas delivery? Or am i being too optimistic? Reading earlier posts, it seems as if the shipping times have greatly improved.
Never used vw before, so can anyone shed any light?
Cheers

Just had a call from my dealer saying that it is at the Docks.
I wasnt expecting delivery until jan/feb 2010 as the saleman said it definately wont be here before Jan...otherwise we would not of placed the order until later.
The scirocco is a company car and if i have to give my current car back before mid january the company get clobbered with a £1200+VAT early termination charge
.
Looks like my Roc maybe sitting at the delaers for a few months until my currnet car goes back
If anyone has got a later order in the same spec and wants their car at the end of the month id be happy to swap orders

Visited my inchape dealer today, and was told that my baby will be here in december.
Had to get the sales manager to ring VW head office, who confirmed my car will be here with me in december.
Ordered 30 Aug 09, Build Week 48 (23 Nov 09), promised will be here in december!!!
Apparantley VW are trying to push as many orders through as possible.. But they get shipped from Portugal to Germany and then to UK.
Cant Wait!!

Don't think they go to Germany anymore, thats what I've been told, only the first eight months of a new model, then they go straight from Portugal.

Yay, I phoned my dealer yesterday and found out that mine is now a confirmed build week of 46 and it should be with me in December. I don't think this is too bad considering I ordered on the 11th of October. I was originally expecting delivery in February!!
