This is a screenshot of my factory module, long coding helper, it took the cruise coding no problem.

The only reason i ask is that i don't want a guide to appear that says you need a quite expensive part that you don't really need.

I did look at the coding, and it threw an error up. That may have been due to no switch, and the module not supporting it!

I am now intrigued, and my wish to find out is gaining in strength, i will take the SW off later and fit the D version.

Back into the garage we go, all in the name of progress!

you are removing some more shear head bolts LOL !!, are they hard to come off ?, im looking forward to finding out about the module

Shaun, the SW module is attached to the slip ring, the removal of which does not require the removal of the shear bolts.

I have just re-fitted the D version SW module and it does not support CC. You switch CC on, and you don't get an icon in the DIS or the Speedo. I also went for a drive to confirm, no CC with a D Steering Wheel Controller and slip ring. It was also coded exactly the same as the H version.

I have refitted the H version and we have CC again, all icons, all functionality and no fault codes.

yeh of course  lol, well at least you solved that one then

It's still not clear cut. My Module has a different part number, and as you can see does take a cruise coding.

Did you look at the module long coding options?

I don't believe all models will require the additional module, so folk need to be careful if they are going to retrofit to not buy expensive unnecessary parts.

Andy,

I coded the D Module as per the H variant, and yes you are right, it takes the coding as per the your VCDS picture earlier.

However it just does not work!

Believe me, I have taken the Steering wheel off 3 times this weekend, and would have loved the D variant to work, as I could have got a refund on the H version.

What part number is yours, you can find it on the VCDS scan. Mine was a D version, and although it would take a code via VCDS it did not work.

Don't believe all you read or see on VCDS. If the controller does not have the CC chip, you can tick all the boxes under the sun.............

When are you taking your R apart to try?

Although, they look the same, mine is a revision 36, and from the serial number your was dated the 10/12/2009, SW0118 - no idea what the exact differences are, but modules generally don't accept coding for fucntions they are not capable of supporting.

What is the module 16 data with the new controller?

Yes he does.

Slightly different coding shown, as his is a Automatic DSG.

Because to assist people I took the SW off 3 times, tried coding, checking connectors and recoding several times using the D module, however CC did not work.

I report that on here and I am wrong according to Andy-Gti. I know what I saw and did, and I now have CC working on a 2010 car, with a H version SW module not a D.

However with the D version, despite VCDS showing the CC check box, and with me coding it, exactly as per the H Module (i.e with the CC Check box ticked, MFSW ticked etc) it would not work.

However make your own mind up, and have fun.

Flippin heck you're touchy

I'm not questioning the fact you got it to work, i'm questioning wether a change in the module is required. Dana at Ross-tech said the module will control cruise, and confirmed the coding for both the Indicator and 3rd stalk controlled versions. So there must be some other reason it's not working with that module.

We've identifed that the DSG has a different module - what we don't know now is if that mduel will support cruise?

I'd go buy a stalk and figure it our for myself, but i've got 2 MK2 GTI's in the garage getting stripped for rebuilding, so faffing about with the Scirocco (whic is currently buried under snow) is very much a secondary thought.

Just for reference, I made a mistake in my post. I have CC working using an H version SW module, not a D as per my last post
