I tried all the combinations the full beam/indicator stalk and nothing, the drl's are still on...:bang:

My Scirocco is a 09 with normal lights.

From another thread there is a suggestion that this only works if the light switch is in position 0 and will not work if set to Auto.

Haven't tested it myself but could be worth a try?

Mine is a MY2010 and light position was in the Auto and managed to turn them, just thought I would add this.

Cheers

That's blown my theory then!

It's almost as if each car has it's own secret gotcha  A guy on another thread has to depress the clutch first!

I phoned round a few dealers today asking about switching off the drl's everyone of them said they had never been asked that before one guy went and checked and said "it'll cost between £60-£80 as it needs a diagnostic check to see if they can be turned off"...aye right..., so it looks like I'am Donald Ducked for getting my drl's switched off... :grumpy:

I paid £48 at Arthur Prince in Loughborough. I tried all the combos to no avail. I have an 09 model.

Arthur Prince did mine too, and I must have been a bit more, er, "assertive" in my instance that it be done for nothing.......
Some minor faults had to be fixed when it went back, so perhaps that helped in my favour.

OK here's another alternative....
Black cardboard cutouts taped over your headlights. That way no one will know that your lights are on during the day.
And if you attach a piece of string to each cut-out you can flash other motorists by just pulling on the strings.

Where do people get their ideas from?

Get them turned off by VAGCOM, and be saved from the Dealer's D R Light robbery!

Eureka!

Having had the car for 4 months I at last managed to switch the DRL's off using the indicator stalk method.

I was so excited I switched them back on and then off again.

Hey you must have an 09 model then.
I thought we'd ascertained that turning them off via the method in the manual only worked on MY2010's.
