Im a full time student so funds very tight recently picked up a salvage rocco just pannel damage which i will get sorted. If you could help me a little would be a big help.
The front bumper is cracked and one headlight smashed i do want to fit the facelift r bumper am i right in thinking i only need the facelift lights to fit and obviously the bumper and would that be costly or would i be safer going for the pre facelift bumper and fitting that which i also don't mind the look of.
On a very tight budget but would rather stretch a little if it meant achieving the look i wanted any advice would be greatly appreciated.
And keep up the awesome work. p.s i have just read through this entire thread was worth it tho
Wow, thank you for your kind words! You don't even need the facelift lights for the bumper to fit, it will still fit with the prefacelift lights. (If you are referring to the
front bumper).
If you want to do the
rear bumper though, you'll need bootlid and lights too. Plus arch liners, fixings, bumper mounts etc.

I've spent this morning (in work) reading this thread. Inspiring, idea generating and quite frankly jaw dropping!
An absolutely jaw-dropping piece of art!
You've done a great job Tom!

Congrats on the sponsor buddy! I also went for it when they posted up. Got a speedy response but didn't make the cut [emoji30] on the bright side, I did win the 'share this win this' this week though so I managed to grab myself £300 of gear for the year haha!
Well done on everything with the car as well. Very good example. Would be very interested to see your car in person if you're at any shows this coming year

Thank you very much! Glad you like it, makes all the hard work worth it when others appreciate everything that's gone into it!

haha no way, I can't believe it hasn't sold yet! Yeah for sure, we should do! Get on the London Scirocco's owners page on facebook - we are organising a meet up on there for next month

Thank you! Yeah, facelift bi-xenons are definitely on the list. Houses ruin everything though and alas buying our first home means xenons won't be for a little while yet

Thank you man! That's a shame
I was pretty shocked I got accepted - they took a few people on at once and a few people were a little butthurt, but I'm still not complaining with the sponsorship package they've offered me!
Wow, congrats on winning! I bet you are super chuffed
Thanks for your kind words, the car will be at all the usual upcoming shows this year - Early Edition next, then Players, then Gravity, Fitted and Vag at the Manor etc later on in the year.

Not much has changed really. I took the car to Volkswagen last week in an attempt to sort out the coding for the facelift rear lights (for those who don't know, when facelifting and rewiring the rear end, it will cause your fog light to remain on constantly, and left rear brake light to be on about 20% brightness all the time). It seems very challenging as only a handful people have done it successfully, and the coding is different on different models - pre 09 can use vagcom whereas 09 onwards need VCP.
Anyway, it turns out VW can't do it (yet). They say they know what needs to be done, but need to renew their software licence lease for some specific software (which is approx £500 a year for them!) so waiting on their regional manager to approve the purchase. I should hear back this week, and if all is well, it should be a 15 min job to code them correctly. We are also investigating coding sequential (Audi style) indicators.
I'll keep you all updated.

I'm still searching for someone to successfully code the rear lights. VW are still awaiting approval from their regional manager to pay £500 to update their software subscription.
Meanwhile, I've been putting Auto Finesse goodies to good use, here's the Rocco at a local meet recently:
The car is also booked in for a full refurb at my local wheel specialist (Fareham). Here is one of the colour options...
I want something subtle, but the amount I'm paying I'd like a difference to what I have now. I'm really torn - I'm worried I'll get bored of the Satin Champagne Silver (pictured above) fairly quickly. Anyone's input welcome

What are you looking for in a colour?
Something massively bright and loud or nice and subtle?
Turquoise?
Gold?

Something very subtle. I am not a fan of bright colours, I feel i'll get bored very quickly haha (plus its not in keeping with the oem+ look, I guess). Even satin Champagne Silver feels too much of a drastic change

Thanks guys! I'm still debating colours for the wheels, i change my mind daily!!
Good news, after months of trying different people/company's and lots of time researching online, I have FINALLY managed to code the rear lights successfully!!!!! Something even VW told me they couldn't do. I also fitted a new Sun strip myself, such a ballache as I'm clueless when it comes to vinyl wrapping, but it actually came out ok!
Here are a few pics, plus an entry shot to Goodwood's Breakfast Club yesterday - the Rocco managed to get a fair bit more attention than lamborghini's and Ferrari's - little did they know it's only a diesel

Thanks dude!
I have included below what was changed, for people wanting to know what is required for coding the tail lights for the Facelift Rear End conversion.
First of all, I attempted it but the changes to my car could not be done via Vagcom - some people have tried vagcom and it has worked, I believe will only work on red MFD models. (08/58 reg).
For those who cannot use vagcom, you will require
VCP (Vag Can Pro - this is
not the same as vagcom and is a completely different software!).
Once purchased, you will need to go in to general, there is a wizard for adjusting pq35 bcm output behavior. You should unmark sidelight/parkLight/etc functions from stop light outputs. This should remove the fog light and rear left brake light from being on all the time.
The fog light will still work when turned on, and obviously brake lights will still work when the brake is applied. All functions work as they would from factory.
I did also attempt to code sequential indicators as they are LED, however I believe to do so you will need a BCM from a car that has this function from standard - e.g. a 2017 MK7 Golf. I will continue to play around and update on any progress.
Hopefully this helps you guys with the facelift rear end conversion and light coding!
