Just off the phone to my Dealer. I ordered my car (2.0 Petrol TSi) around the 7th July. I was told then that I could expect the car about 12 weeks later. I was then told a week later that tit's going to be built week 45.

He's just told me today that build week has been brought forward to week 41 so i should expect delivery about week 45.

Pretty chuffed with that, but unfortunately I'm going to be in US working so won't be able to go collect it!

there you go mrp!! not long now!
dealers will just let you sit & stew if they think you are content to, they forget/don't realise that some people are 'well informed' like us & need to know the details.

now you just need to make yourself a list of what to check when you pick it up (IPOD cable etc) & what you want sorting vagcom wise before collection :D

Ordered a Candy White 1.4 TSI on 1st August and only just got a build date!!.....Week 47.....its already been six weeks so got at least another 10-12 weeks.

Was told mine was the last Scirocco to be ordered through Huddersfield VW's allocation in 2009...pretty lucky I guess.

Welcome Jon.

that seems to tally with what the rest of us are finding. & yes you will be waiting the full 16-18 weeks, I rang VW customer services about my order & was told it should always have had a 16-18 week lead time minimum not the 12 I was quoted at order.

Update: Ordered mine on 14 June and was subsequently build week 36. Just been onto the dealers and (after 3 phone calls with 3 different people) was told that build week had slipped to 37, but it had now been build and was awaiting shipment to the UK.

I'm told to expect 2-3 weeks for delivery.

It's built! It exists! I want it nowwwwww!!!!!!

got an email this morning from the dealer saying that the car was in the factory being built and had passed through stage 1 of the build process. apparently there are 8 stages to go through, before the final assembled car!? :hyper:

Thats alot of stages! Is the 2 - 4 weeks delivery time quoted AFTER build completetion or from the start of your given buildweek and if it is the prior, how long does it take to build?

yes I would think it is after completed build Downtown, also seeing as they give you a build 'week' surely it shouldn't run over that build 'week'.
I would guess that it is not necessarily started at the beginning of the week and finished at the end giving the 2-4 week estimate some grounding, eg if your car is started on the monday & finished early on in the week it may ship to Germany for final checks & to the UK very quickly compared to if it is started later on in the week & finished on the friday & can't then be shipped to Germany until the following monday possibly
that make sense? (it does in my head at least)

It does make sense, impatience can cloud ones common sense, never bought a new car before and hate the ambiguity when it comes to delivery times.

Haha, funny you should mention that. A mate of mine just bought a new car and originally wanted a Ford KA (Dont ask why) but she was told she would have to wait 5 months?!

Went into my dealers today to ask what was going on as my supposed build week of 38 never got locked in. He said he'd already chased it with VW and that they had moved my build date back to week 42 due to a shortage of DSG boxes. All locked in for week 42 now but still disappointed to be waiting another 4 weeks. Anyone else heard of any problems with the supply of the DSG box?

the 8 stages of building in the factory are completed in a week. build weeks cant move after they have been frozen....supposedly...but then some dealers are inventing stories to keep customers at arms length, because they want sales, but don't have allcoated build slots. be very cautious with what some dealers are quoting you. ask them for your com number, and then contact vw customer services directly yourself and they will state the true status of your car!
