Hi All,
My 1.4 TSI is going in Thursday morning as I had the dreaded misfire yesterday with a warm engine, third gear, lost power and flashing engine light for around 5 seconds. I had my torque application plugged in at the time and its registering a cylinder 2 misfire. The engine has been progressively getting worse lately, possibly due to a bluefin install which I have now removed as it has to go back into VW.
I will update on here to find out exactly what they find out, and also what they do to hopefully fix the problem. Anyone else loosing faith in this engine????

yep, vw said they couldnt find anything wrong with the missfire, I decided to replace the plugs at 20K anyway and it had improved things slightly, but although its a mechanical marvel of an engine im getting rid of mine ASAP as judging by all the things that have broken on it (gearbox, clutch, window motor, back lights, seat, wiper stalk etc etc the list is endless) I dont think I could afford to fix it when the warranty expires. Good bye roc hello TT tdi

@montstable / @motorsportmatt - when were your Rocs manufactured? From your posts history it's 2009 and early 2010, correct?

yeh i bought mine as an ex demo in mar 2010. and will swear i will never buy another ex-demo, as this car must have had a rough 4000 miles, its got a slight engine rattle when starting from cold, but also ive found ive replaced the plugs at 20K because i think its too much to ask from them to last any longer, also I drop the oil 1000 after vw service and filled with mobile 5w30 fully synthetic, its also been mapped and goes well.

Cold Start rattle is a bulletin or 10 minute solution on the engine with special tool ......

It's reassuring, that still there are no reports of new engines to fail. First posts about failures in 2009 cars where already showing up at t the end of the same year...
As for the demo car, probably every body tried to push it hard on their test drives. I drove a new scirocco demo (i was the first one to drive it) and nobody ever said to be gentle with it, so i wasn't. And probably every sporty demo gets this kind of treatment. Personally i wouldn't buy it.

Not surprising when the knock sensors were screwed up in the engine map and bad fuelling map added to the pot as well. Majority was put right by May 2009 built Sciroccos. Effectively settled by 95% in September 2010 in Europe with 24s4.
The last bit for oddities in specific climate conditions by Nov 2010. Bogus batch of Coil Packs in mid to late 2009 only. Spark plugs revised gap in September 2011, not as big a necessity after 24s4 was issued in September 2010. So pretty much wrapped up by September 2010.

I'm sorry for quoting such an old post but I've seen a lot of people talk about monitoring missfires using torque app.
Whenever I go into torque -> test results I get an error that my ECU doesn't support (???) mode thus it can't show me any info. Is there a workaround?
